After a long (and wonderful) weekend I was rushing home to the island to meet some friends for dinner but couldn’t help but quickly breeze through the SOWA market in Boston’s South End before dedicating my eyes to the road. I spanned the perimeter quickly but was still able to capture some beautiful shots of some of the talented artisans presenting their work. Here are some shots of my favorite things...
Daylynn Richards of Nevermore reminded me of being young and finding little trinkets outside in the yard and creating an eerie story around it. Her work was amazing and I have to go back and find more of it. She had this whole forgotten fairytale element around each piece...like it would bring you to some dark place.
I was very excited to run into my friend Nicole of Fidget Finds at SOWA. I always see her adventures online but was unable to make it to the booth. Last summer I had the pleasure of having a little apartment above her store so my vintage cravings were always satisfied by walking downstairs. I am planning on doing a little piece on her in my blog so make sure to keep reading!
I couldn't leave empty handed! A token of my adventure was this amazing clutch from Thailand. Only 12 bucks (Abbey you would be proud). I love the colors and it checks off another item on my August Wish List!
life is good! afer work today, I strolled through the antique market which happens every weekend in the canter of Cannes. I found it quite by surprise and I'm sure you can imagine how excited I was. Each booth was filled with long lost treasures and I can only dream of the history behind each of them. I probably wrapped the entire market about three times before finally deciding it would be a good idea to settle down and prepare for the evening ahead.
A Tube Top (it has to be a little bit bigger though)
Creative Spin on a Classic Piece
Forget the scarf bracelet, I'm rocking the Arm Cuff!
I thought I would give a snapshot into my scarf fetish. I am packing so these are the only ones I could find. I'm not sure exactly where these all came from but one thing I can tell you is that I have never paid over $3 for a scarf...NEVER
Scarves are the absolute best...like jewelry you can add them and just make an outfit pop. And as you can see, there are many ways to wear them!
The emilio pucci is the only one that is fancy and that I accumulated from my grandmother ;)
Blazer (H&M Garden Collection $29)
Silk Tank Top (Old Navy $10)
Earrings (.50 cents St. Matthew's Church Thrift Store)
This blazer is so soft and fits like a glove. I highly recommend going by H&M immediately!
Leopard Leggings (Miley Cyrus for Wal-Mart $10)
I am almost positive that I have a chronic condition when it comes to leopard fabrics. I hone in on it wherever I am. Disturbing...I know.
My grandmother's beaded necklace (rummaging through old costume jewelry)
My great grandmother's turquoise cuff (Got this yesterday from my great aunt. I love thinking about what she may have been doing when wearing this. such history!)
So as you all know, I went to New York this weekend. It was a beautiful trip filled with much reminiscing and amazing dusted off stories that had never been told before about all of the beautiful, eccentric and brilliant women that tread before me.
As Olive and I drove back up to Boston yesterday I got a little teary thinking about love, loss and everything in between. The weather definitely didn't help (torrential downpour can definitely put a damper on the day).
Anyways, I decided that I needed to turn it around. This weekend was a celebration of life and I want to express myself by wearing whatever the hell I want! Life is too short to be huddled in a corner with a t-shirt that blends into the wall. Nothing should be off limits and as a result, madness transpired on this wonderful Monday!
When I was younger my parents used to call me the forty-four-year-old stuck in the six-year-old body. I guess that makes me about ninety-five now. Some people call it “Old Soul” personally I like to think of it as old lady. When your ideal Saturday night is sipping tea, flipping through coffee table books and rocking out to Frank and Ella you know that there is definitely something a little different in your genetic makeup.
Maybe that’s why I’m so fascinated with clothing that has a history.
Above are some photos of my fashion icons; my great grandparents Grandolly and Grandaddy (Alice and William Renchard) and my grandmother Jeanie (Mumu).
The second picture is my grandmother Mumu at twenty-five.Love the blouse!
Silk Top: .20 Cents Garment District Square Diamond Earrings: .50 Cents St. Matthew's Thrift from Easter Adventure Olive: $75 Vintage Mutt Potter League
Now I may not wear this particular top while running after little O at the Potter League's weekly playgroup but I thought it would be a nice top to show since the weekend is coming up and everyone is prepping for Saturday night attire. I actually flipped the shirt the other way so the v-neck was accentuating my back. I have a feeling this will be stowed away in my suitcase for the Cannes Film Festival (coming up in four weeks! ahh so excited!)
And as you can see, if you have been following my posts, I am absolutely obsessed with my dog Olive (who also responds to Ho Cake and Pooka Shell) and though I've had interventions from friends, family and my boyfriend, I don't think there will be any change of heart in the near future.
I know yesterday was a post about bags, and I certainly hate beating a subject into the ground but after my weekly internship meeting at Second Time Around on Wednesday, I decided to sneak into the downstairs location at 176 Newbury and check out the merchandise and I found the the ultimate carpet bag! Well...at least I think so.
It's a handwoven tapestry overnight bag and I absolutely cannot get enough of it. My sexy mutt olive even likes it and found a way to balance perfectly on top of it when we were sitting outside the other night.
I am absolutely in love and got it for $32! Handwoven! Amazing!
I actually got this wristlet the other day at Goodwill on Comm to accessorize my oh so lovely Hawaiian shirt but I have a feeling I will be grabbing this beautiful piece to pair with my summer dresses for a night out.
This is the perfect solution for a beautiful spring/summer day when you just aren't feeling a ton of color. It is a woven straw bag but still has the conservative black with a little bit of edge in the chain strap.
I absolutely must!! have a straw bag in the summer. This literally fell off the rack and into my well-deserving hands. Come September, this fabulous tote will be smelling of Coppertone and spilling sand and sea glass. Ah...I can't wait for summer!
I have never found a happy medium when it comes to bags. I am either drooling over Chanel's spring collection or smushed between racks at goodwill, hoarding all of their best clutches. Since it is such a lovely morning and all I seem to have on my mind is what accessory I am going to throw over my shoulder for lunch in Boston I thought I would share a few of my recent purchases from Goodwill on Mass and Comm Ave.
Saturday. A Brilliant day in my book but in Jamestown there is a little extra oomph added.
From 9 to 11 each Saturday, Saint Matthew’s Church opens its big red doors and welcomes thrifty shoppers in to enjoy the lightly used clothing, furniture and house wares.
But this particular Saturday was a bit different. I had a goal.
The sun is finally kissing New England and I was on a mission to find the perfect pastel blouse to honor it.
I brought my mom along with me to experience this ritual and once again I have dragged someone out of the dark and into garment enlightenment. She was a natural, which I shouldn’t have been surprised by. Guess it runs in the family ;)
Stay tuned tomorrow to see all of the fabulous finds...to keep you intrigued, we walked out with a big bag of clothing for $10 total!

Check out my new blog posts for Second Time Around's fashioniSTA
http://www.secondtimearound.net/blog/
This retail/consignment chain is amazing! The most recent post I did was to find looks similar to Reese Witherspoon at the Atrium Mall Store and the types of designers I found were amazing Everything from Jimmy Choo, Prada, Burberry, Chanel, etc.
So...what do you do on a Tuesday night when torrential downpour is obliterating the city? Well, I try on all of my weird clothing and see if there is something that can actually be worn around normal people. This oversized cardigan($4 Goodwill) may have been an 80s reject but I think it can work as long as you make sure to downplay the rest of the look...well seeing that I'm wearing studded leggings(Miley Cyrus Collection Wal-Mart $10) with a faux snakeskin clutch(Charitable Heart $7) I don't know that I'm abiding by my own rules...but, Boston may be seeing this in the near future.
Daring outfit. I'm actually nervous to throw this into the World Wide Web abyss.
Anyways, the lace shirt ($0 Clothing Swap) is long sleeved and looks pretty good on its own. I am wearing a black bra underneath (ahh scandalous!) and the faux fur coat ($20 Wish Newport) is from a little consignment shop in Newport that just opened. I love it because not only does the whole outfit look lux but it’s also guilt free! No animal cruelty here. Also, the two rings I am wearing are
I am pairing this with my favorite black skinny jeans and dark gray ankle boots and two rings(about $3 Forever 21) one is a bow and the other one says LOVE. Both which will probably show up in posts to come.
PS: I hope you are enjoying the photos, I have been teetering my camera on top of cereal boxes and random cook wear just so I didn't have to embarrass myself by having another person in the room. It really is amazing how shameless I can be on my blog yet when it comes to telling a story in front of a small room of people...well...lets just say it never goes over that well.
When I first punched my fist into the pile of misfit clothing, I yanked out this yummy "Fred Benson Town Beach" polo. Being a reformed serial collar flipper, this piece yanked at my heart a bit.
Here, I have paired it with MASSIVE clip-on earrings (Closet Revival $8). I am also wearing black skinny jeans and black ballet flats.
What I love about this outfit is that the polo doesn't scream Murray's Toggery or Dark n' Stormies instead it has an eclectic feel to it.
