Sipping and Swapping

Boston Fashion Week 2010

perfectly organized before the madness

I was taught at a young age that envy is ugly, and have been quite successful at practicing the art of goodwill until last night.

If there could have been a color for my mood…it would have been nuclear green.

For as long as I can remember, my friends and I have been having clothing swaps at each other’s homes and I have always been looking for a way to make money through it. Last night at Somerville’s Arts at the Armory, Swapaholics, Amy Chase and Melissa Massello did just that and my mom and I attended the event with swappable clothing in tow along with a camera.

I got in as press to take photos before the show and just as the masses were filtering in, my battery died so unfortunately I was unable to capture the sheer madness of the scene. The partygoers showed their true colors as they shoved their way through the racks with iron fists and linebacker moves. About ten minutes in, all of the clothing was either strewn about on the floor or stuffed into seam-breaking bags.

Luckily, I didn’t go home empty handed. My goal is to style my items on the blog throughout the rest of the week so stay tuned.

True Costume Jewelry

Grandolly's Clip on Earrings

Wedges (Marshalls $20)
I never wear heels but these are the absolute best
I had them on all night!

Grandmother's Goddess Coin Ring
I'm enamored by Grecian culture and mythology
so this is a new staple for me

With the Mamasita!

Too many dances and drinks later...

My Great Grandmother's costume jewelry came in the mail a few days ago and my sister and I have had a ball sifting through all the gems. From the stories we've been told about Grandolly, I must admit she was quite a remarkable lady when she was our age.

I just hope some of that wonderful energy has been preserved in these fantastic pieces.

May Clothing Swap

Party Staple: Sunflowers & Mason Jars
(I use jars for everything! no joke)

This and Photos Below: Nicole Dagesse

May is finally here and this weekend truly captured the essence of it. Everywhere I went there were yard sales and rummage sales and the sun was definitely in a good mood. But I was busy planning a clothing swap with some virgin swappers so the concept was very new. I was so busy rushing around, making dinner and preparing the apartment and of course organizing my unwanted clothes that I absolutely spaced on taking pictures. Luckily my lovely friend Nicole has let me borrow hers!

It is extremely hard being the perfect host!

Anyways, the night was filled with lots of food, champagne, laughter, and of course exorbitant amounts of new attire. Nobody left empty handed!
