Gutsy Green Blazer

Blazer (Savers $7)
Tank Top (Forever 21 $8)

Jean Shorts (my own creation)

Earrings (Savers $3)

White Dress (Forever 21 $20)

Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, summer is finally in full swing. Today consisted of burning myself to a crisp at Green’s Pier and indulging in a lovely frosty freeze ice cream cone. I am officially back home!

The only problem is that three quarters of my wardrobe is still twenty-one flights up in South Boston. This makes it difficult to just throw on my favorite sundress and call it a day, therefore my creativity has taken a little jump and I’m resurrecting long lost items in my closet that never made first cut when moving last year. Every item should have it’s time to shine!

This blazer is actually a Savers thrift piece from two seasons ago and I never had the guts to pull it out. Now that the blazer trend has taken off, my confidence has skyrocketed and I plan on pairing this with quite a lot this summer.

Basement Bliss

A work in progress...don't judge

I swear, every season is the same cycle. There's a new trend...I need a new wardrobe...I DON'T HAVE ANY CLOTHES!

The question is, where did all the clothes and accessories from last summer go?

Hmm...I am sure if we all took the time to rummage in all of the little storage places scattered around our apartments, dorms or houses we would be pleasantly surprised with the results.

I have used my parent's basement to conduct this experiment. As you can see, there is no map to navigate through the piles but nevertheless, many gems have been discovered.

I have been hunting for the perfect clutch and have decided it may be a better idea to start by looking here.
Now I have always been a bag lady (no pun intended) so I may have a different outcome than others but nevertheless...definitely go through your old stuff!

My Favorite Finds:
none of these were more than $10

I have a feeling I won't be having any issues when it comes to clutches this season and as you can see I have been into the woven look for far too long and for many more years to come!

Tye-Dye Pants and Reflections

Tye-Dye Jeans (Joes Jeans at Loehmanns $20)

farewell pics with my lovely friend Anna

I actually never really met this guy but I still planning on meeting his backpack ;)
Louise in her polka dot pants

Farewell Cannes. Our love affair will never end.

So I'm finally back home. Sitting in my living room with Olive by my side, gnawing at my fingers as I type.

I can’t believe graduation has come and gone and though I have only been back for one day, France feels as though it was just an apparition.

As I sit here tying up loose ends and trying to figure out what path I want to take for the rest of my life...or at least for the summer I thought I would post one last blog on the festival.

These pictures are from the last night in Cannes when I broke out my tie-dye jeans and made an entrance fit for…well I’m not sure what it was fit for, but it was fun!

I will be getting back into the rummage swing of things tomorrow so make sure to keep checking up on me!

How Would YOU Wear a Pantsuit?

(Zara Pantsuit 25 Euro)
Blank Canvas?
Scarf?
(Zara 15 Euro)
Denim?
(Shirt 15 Euro Monoprix aka Target of Cannes)

Professional?
(Blazer H&M)

I am sure that I'll be getting some eye rolls this summer when I book it out of the house in this piece, but I couldn't care less. Not only is it comfortable but it's so fun!

Romper wearing was so last summer, so why not try this on for size!(I'll never stop wearing rompers though)

Hope you all enjoy...also, heading back to the Ocean State today!

Whimsical Saturday

if only these dresses were my size :(

these are the staple sandals in Nice
all the adorable french girls wear them with khaki shorts and little white Ts

woven baskets (9 Euro)

fabulous french fabrics for my mamasita. you like?

Cross Earrings (random thrift store: 10 Euro)

Yesterday was that perfect mix of aimless wandering with a hidden agenda.

After sightseeing all morning with friends and window shopping on La Croisette, I skipped away for some alone time to take in the sights of the back alleys that are cluttered with local shops.

I found these ideal earrings (as you all probably know by now, I have an affinity toward clip-on earrings) and some beautiful French fabric for my mamasita.

I tend to be the worst gift giver after traveling, but everything about this place reminds me of my mom…the dried lavender, the lush fabrics, the shabby chic apartments and sandy beaches. This is one place that I recommend to anyone who wants to live simply but in the most beautiful way possible.

Street Chic

oversized umbrella
Little T of Louisiana...she was always wearing the cutest outfits and I just had to snap a pic.

Pretty Backs

Alex has had this little admirer all week.
Imitation is the highest form of flattery ;)

this lady exuded some sort of grace in the way she was perched looking out on la Croisette

It has been impossible to blog this whole time. I have been on my feet all day everyday and at night I just pass out. Anyways, I thought I would share some inspirational photos of some of my most favorite things in Cannes. Today is my first day off since getting here and I am headed to the old town to do some last minute shopping and people watching. I will update you all tomorrow...pinky promise.

The Cannes Market

Bobble Earring (10 Euro at the Cannes Market)

life is good! afer work today, I strolled through the antique market which happens every weekend in the canter of Cannes. I found it quite by surprise and I'm sure you can imagine how excited I was. Each booth was filled with long lost treasures and I can only dream of the history behind each of them. I probably wrapped the entire market about three times before finally deciding it would be a good idea to settle down and prepare for the evening ahead.

Cannes Inspiration

who knew a man's best friend could come in such a small package? Much more fashionable than a clutch. Ladies...take note!

The ultimate beach car. Perfect for gravelly feet and crunchy salt hair.

The colors in these are beautiful. Such a glamorous street artist.
I think he was super important...I would wear this outfit.

I thought I would post some of my favorite parts of Cannes thus far. Sorry that the pics are not the best...I am posting them from a computer lab in the American Pavilion and cannot fix them up. Enjoy!

Brilliantly Barefoot on the Red Carpet

Cate Blanchett and Russell Crowe for Robin Hood

at the top of the famous stairway
tread by many many greats

It has been a whirlwind! My toes are all pink from running around but a smile is plastered on my face.

The colors, the energy, there is so much life! I have been blessed with an internship with DDA, a PR company over in London and I am learning a whole new trade and loving it.

I thought I would start by posting a picture of me on the RED CARPET! No, this is not a joke. My lovely friend Anna won Robin Hood premiere tickets in a raffle and I booked it to the apartment to change into my lovely Buffalo Exchange dress and heels. The heels hurt so terribly that I actually walked barefoot down the red carpet on the way out (if you ever have a chance to do this I highly recommend it. The carpet is very lush and squishy).

I’ll post more photos tomorrow so make sure to check in!

(also, so sorry for the lack of photos. the internet here is terrible and it takes ages to load them)

The Long Road To Nizza

do you think she can pull off the braid look? I know it is totally in this season but I'm not sure about this look...ha.

Interesting center pieces. There is a dog chewy on one side and a felt flower sticker on the other

It is curious to me how insane people can get when plans have changed. I have always known myself to be a pretty inflexible person in terms of scheduling but when I’m out and about, I try not to burden those around me with crazy eyes and elbow knocks.

I was not afforded the same courtesy yesterday when the Munich Airport canceled all of their flights. The terminal was littered with sweaty fists, bulbous bags, and very little personal space.

Luckily today it has calmed down and though I have to wait in the airport for about 3 to 4 more hours, I am thoroughly enjoying the many different “travel” looks that are blazing past me.

I actually find that I identify with the men’s fashion much more than the women. They are all wearing clothing I would wear…either I have a serious identity issue or they are extremely metro.

I am attempting to snap pictures as people walk past but I’m a little worried I am coming off as a raging weirdo. Hmmmm. As you can see from above I mainly stuck to the scenery!

Some Fashion Staples Around the Airport (menswear inspired)

1. Oxford shoes (with slightly pointed toes)

2. Skin tight jeans/dress pants

3. Finely pressed buttondowns

4. Scarves

5. Over the shoulder cardigans

6. Leather jackets

7. Converse sneakers

8. Canvas rolling bags and over-the-shoulder carry-ons

Some Fashion"DON'T EVER DO THIS AT HOME" looks

1. Bright pink fishnet stockings with pink suede boots (this women has been strutting her stuff around the airport for the past two days. Disturbing).

2. Track Suits (Adidas and Puma seem to be the "go tos"

3. Very tight and very bright graphic tees

Though this has been an experience and I do love adventures...I would be perfectly content not spending too much time in an airport for a while.
